Health Insurance...except for teeth

Why does this happen more often than not? Are teeth not a part of health? Teeth are a part of your mouth. I guess your mouth is more important and your teeth are a luxury. What is wrong with that picture? I can tell you, a bad smile.

The United States has a lot more problems than Iraq and terrorism.

From here until 2008

Sweeney Todd is my favorite musical ever and Tim Burton, one of my favorite directors, is bringing to to the big screen.

Let the anticipation begin.

Katie and Dave

Sunday night at 11:15 in the evening I had to do some laundry. I couldn't do everything on the living room floor because I was exhausted from seeing Hair Saturday and Sunday night, but I decided on one load. This time I thought I would use my time wisely and while my clothes were washing I would prepare for the next day. On my way out to get my clothes out of the dryer I ran into two people on the front stoop.

Katie, I had met her in the building before but in passing. We'd speak and do that quick talk while moving, "Hey how are you?" "Fine, you?" "I'm well, take care". That was the extent of our talks. Tonight would prove to be a little different when I saw her drinking with a male "friend" of hers.

What sucked me in was the little black and white Chiquia in the front? I stopped and went down to pet it that's when the man, Dave, asked me

"What are you doing tonight?"
"Laundry" I said,
"You must have a date tonight" (I wish and when did doing laundry mean you have a date?).

I quickly discovered that they were drunk because Katie proceeded to cry after I mentioned that I was watching the HBO show Tell me you Love Me. Dave on the other hand, from what he said, does some modeling and kept showing me and Katie his stomach, which I would be showing too if I had his.

I found out Katie's roommate is "bent" and single. She' s a model and writer and says she has a role for me in a play that she's written. Look at that. It also looks like I have another Christmas Party to attend in my block! Dave said that I must come to his Christmas Party in December. He lives a few doors down (he's married to a woman). Last night, I put my business card with a note under Katie's apartment door, so she has my contact information.

Look Hadi, I'm networking! Now I need to go shopping and hit the gym harder. I've been slacking.

Where Do I Go?

The lyrics below are from the end of the First act. The lead character, Claude, decides not to burn his draft card. Instead he questions his existence and the reasons for him dying for his country.

The youth of this country need to start ask questions and stop worrying about these stupid celebrities lives.

Where do I go
Follow the river
Where do I go
Follow the gulls

Where is the something
Where is the someone
That tells me why I live and die

Where do I go
Follow the children
Where do I go
Follow their smiles

Is there an answer
In their sweet faces
That tells me why I live and die

Follow the wind song
Follow the thunder
Follow the neon in young lovers' eyes

Down to the gutter
Up to the glitter
Into the city
Where the truth lies

Where do I go
Follow my heartbeat
Where do I go
Follow my hand

Where will they lead me
And will I ever
Discover why I live and die

Why do I live (beads, flowers)
Why do I die (freedom, happiness)
Tell my why (beads, flowers)
Tell me where (freedom, happiness)
Tell my why (beads, flowers)
Tell me why (freedom!)

SNL...another stab in the coffin

Saturday Night Live doesn't have much time left.

Maya Rudolph, the most talented cast member, is leaving SNL right before the premiere on Saturday. I think it has something to do with money. Shame, she is the only woman of color on the show (insane, isn't it).

SNL, wake up! Inject some new talent in your show. I think they work in a bubble. Meaning only the people in the room think whatever they're doing is funny. Those cast members make about $350,000 and above. That's reason enough to fire dead weight.

I watch the show and wonder who thought this was funny. I could see how a few jokes bomb, but I've fast forwarded many shows, but they are just unfunny. I refuse to watch it live anymore. You can't say it's a lack of talent. New York City if full of comedians! Hire them on a temporary basis! Let those writers and cast members know that they're jobs aren't guaranteed.

The New Guy

There is a new guy in the office. Let's call him Dell. This guy arrives about two weeks ago and he's very nice, tall with dark features, I think he's Latin. After about a week and I hear him say to me, "Good Morning handsome". I'm like, "what?". He would just keep on walking like it's nothing.

Soon after the winks came. They weren't sexual, but they said, "I know something about you". That's fine because I don't hide anything at work. In fact, one of my bosses tried to hook me up with someone. They have the best intentions don't they?

Last week, Dell gave me a magazine about Opera in New York City. I'm not so much into Opera as Musical Theatre, but it was sweet. Friday was the confirmation I heard him say to a man, "they (meaning he and this other guy) couldn't afford something". Ahhh, a partner. That's good and bad at the same time. Oh well, maybe he'll have a Christmas Party at his house. He lives off of Central Park.

I'll keep you posted....

Flesh Failures

We starve-look
At one another
Short of breath
Walking proudly in our winter coats
Wearing smells from laboratories
Facing a dying nation
Of moving paper fantasy
Listening for the new told lies
With supreme visions of lonely tunes

Let the sunshine in...

That's the finale lyrics of Hair. An anthem that speaks to the hope and optimism of youth in this country. Even out of death, with the promise of more dying, this "tribe" has the vision to ask a nation in pain, disagreement and war to "Let the sunshine In".

Please, for yourself, let some sunshine into your life.

peace...

I really love my Hair

This has turned into being Hair Weekend.

Currently I'm in line (right now) on Layfayette Street in the east village waiting for tickets to be released for Hair in Central Park at 1pm. Funny thing is I'm seeing it for the second time. The special thing is that I'm in line with two members of my own tribe. It's so exciting. I will describe it as warm and fuzzy, kind of like the show. I love these guys.

Hair, which I saw already saw and seeing again, is great. It brought back so many memories. Highlights for me was the song Aquarius, Walking in Space, I got Life.

Star sightings: Cynthia Nixon and Audra McDonald. One day I'm going to work with Audra. I've seen her too many times.

That's my shout out from the line. I'm going to watch Sex and the City on my macbook now.

peace and love....
