As The World Turns: Luke and Noah Kiss!

I have been watching this show since I was eight years old, so it's been a long time!

The World has come a long way. Although I have to say ATWT was one of the first soaps with an openly gay character Hank, who I had AIDS. It was a great story and I remember watching it with my mother, back in the 80's.

I have to say I'm proud of the fact that they are paving the way again! Yeah!

Two Foxes

Kudos to the choreographer who took chances. This dance is about texture, layers and the details.

Enjoy.

Horoscope for this week

Capricorn Horoscope for week of August 16, 2007

Verticle Oracle card Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
Welcome to the Season of Temporary Insanity, Capricorn. According to my analysis of the omens, your imminent immersion in lunacy, delirium, and freakiness won't hurt a bit -- and may even stir up exotic varieties of pleasure and amusement. For best results, keep the following advice bubbling and frothing in the back of your mind. (1) "Only when he no longer knows what he is doing does the painter do good things." - Edgar Degas. (2) "Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderment." – Rumi, translated by Coleman Barks. (3) "All of us are crazy good in one way or another." - Yiddish saying. (4) "You are either losing your mind -- or gaining your soul." - Julia Cameron.

I am not my body

I subscribe to the "This I believe" podcast via iTunes. It's a lovely showcase for what people believe in. This weeks episode touched me because of the relationship this woman has with her body.

Who isn't on a journey with their bodies? Mostly everyone I know, even the ones with incredible bodies find something wrong with themselves. Is there really ever a moment when we're happy with how we look? Our eyes, abs, lips, legs, etc.

How should we look? What's the standard of beauty? Who sets that? Magazines are fantasy, but it's hard not to get sucked up into that culture of "beauty". New York City, the city I love and live in, is filled with beautiful men and women, some who could be in those magazines. We have gyms that are full of people striving to maintain or achieve a certain level of beauty. I wonder when that will happen.

Growing up I was an overweight child with glasses and braces. At my highest, I had a 44 waist and was 280lbs. I'm much, much less now! I was called names, etc. but I learned those people teasing me had problems of their own. Problems that I saw at our 10 year class reunion (that's another posting). Overall, I wouldn't be who I am today if I didn't go through that period in my life.

closed with this:

"I am my words, my ideas and my actions. I am filled with love, humor, ambition and intelligence. This I believe: I am your fellow human being and, like you, I am so much more than a body."

My advice for the day: be kind to yourself and others.
Peace

Hi my Name is....@

Not my first choice for a name.

Before I read it, all I could think of was an American child going through the school system with the name of "@". I couldn't imagine the therapy bill. Who knew that it means, "love him" in Chinese. I think that's very sweet.

What does he believe?

Politics are a sham, just bullshit. Guliani was for civil unions back in the day. You really couldn't be the mayor of New York and not, but now that he's running for President (joke) he's backed away from his support of civil unions.

He must be desperate for votes.

The Economist

This magazine is right on point. The title says it all.

He gets you Drunk

Not like the Zodiac killer. I guess you could call him the Checkmate killer. I'm glad they got him.

Note to self: Don't accept alcohol from strangers.

Seussical Sunday

Yesterday I saw Seussical at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. A friend of mine was in it and I took a young friend (Izzy who's seven years old) and her mother to it. We saw the show, got fresh ice cream from Emack & Bolio's in SoHo, went to the Apple Store and then got food at SoHo Park.

Seussical was perfect timing because Izzy is reading Dr. Suess' books including the famous Green eggs and ham. This musical is the story of Horton the elephant and the small "whoos" on "Whooville". Horton says, "A person's a person no matter how small." Amen!

Picture it New York City, 2007, I'm walking around SoHo with a little girl on my back. It must be something about seeing a man with a little girl. I got so much attention. Random strangers smiling and complementing me on how beautiful she is even though I had nothing to do with her birth. All three of us laughed, walked and enjoyed a hot August day in New York City.

Theatre, ice cream, Apple and friends how can you go wrong.

Restaurant Find

I was walking around SoHo and stumbled upon this restaurant. Food was light and tasty and they have little cupcakes for .95 cents. I will definitely be back. I recommend the fish and chips and soho chicken sandwich. Yummy

The best thing about it was the patio and the shoe store across the street. (I don't know why the pic is burry) I'll fix that as soon as possible.

A New Musical

I saw Williamsburg! The Musical tonight. I had a good friend in it and know of one of the creators. About a year and half ago, Will the composer talked about working on this and to see his dream realized (he's a Capricorn) is just incredible.

If you don't know Williamburg is in Brooklyn and it's the trendiest place in New York City. Like SoHo it used to be filled with artists, but became to expensive for those artists to live. Now, Williamsburg is becoming too expensive to live. Whenever you see "frat boys" around a certain area you know it's time to move!
