Hmmm...I beg to differ. He may not have been driving the car that ran him over, but his actions were involved in Michael J. Sandy running into traffic. I'm glad that he was convicted, but this leaves a bad tasted in my mouth. To think a man intentionally went to a gay web site (if you want to know what site, email me), to find someone and lure them out to a park to rob them. That act alone needs to be punished to the full extent of the law.
I'm a true believer of hate crime legislation. Randomly picking a someone because they're on a street is different from picking a victim due to their ethnicity or sexual orientation. Yes, it's hard to prove, but in cases like Matthew Shepard and Michael J. Sandy, they were targeted one at a bar the other on a gay website.
Not to sound to bleak but, but there will never be a day someone won't be singled out because of their ethnicity, gender, weight or sexual orientation. What needs to change is the punishment for those acts of violence. I'll be looking out for the sentencing on October 24th.
To everyone out there, please use your instincts and protect yourself! Watch those hook ups! Meet them in a crowded public place then do your dirt in a mutually agreed place!!

It takes all sorts of people these days to try and take advantage of situations.
In Adelaide, we had a positive guy who went on a rampage infecting men he met through a popular gay dating website while there was another heterosexual male who was doing the same thing but against women.
There are just so many sick people out there that you have to take care of yourself better and always meet in public places for a drink rather than some strange alley way. But then again, people never learn do they until bad things happen. I recommend bringing a friend to watch over you who is already attached - sounds familiar in my line of business!! LOL
