My Pilgrimage to DC

I lost my phone after my birthday dinner Saturday night. Not a great way to start my trip, but I made the best I could of the situation (I activated an old phone).

Monday, I chose to take pictures of the mall and The Kennedy Center. I got about two hours of sleep and headed down to the mall at 4am. We got into the mall and then waited from 7am to 11:30am when the ceremony was to begin.

It was worth it.

Worth it to see the older men and women, clearly affected by the freezing cold, out there because they had to witness history. Moved by the children that listened to every word that Obama had to say during his speech. Emotional because a black man is celebrated for his intellect, policy and leadership and he's the President of the United States.

I'll never forget that moment.

God Bless The Obama's and the United States of America.

Inauguration of Barak Obama

I leave Sunday for Washington, DC. I plan to make a peaceful pilgrimage to see the first African American sworn in as President of the United States. I say peaceful because I plan to let this be an easy trip with little to no amount of stress planned.

In 1995 I was in DC for the million man march and who would have thought fourteen years later I head back down to DC to witness Barack Hussein Obama become president.

Here's the plan:

Sunday
Arrive in the early evening see Mom
Eat hang out w/ friends

Monday
Take pictures of the Capital, Mall, Monument, etc.

*I haven't don't the tourist thing in Washington, DC in years and I'm excited to see the historic landmarks with adult eyes.

Tuesday
BIG DAY!!!

Wednesday
Back to NYC

Games, Games, Games

So, I have the Playstation 3 and I love it, but an addiction has developed...buying games. I want variety so if I get frustrated I can jump to another game, but I'm at that point now where I'm stuck, with Marvel Universe, The Darkness and Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga.

Oh well, maybe I can advance more this weekend!

BTW. If you gamed back when the Atari 2600 was out (like I did), then you need to start again. Head to the Gamestop store and play!

Palm's "Pre" Phone

1 a (1): earlier than : prior to : before <Precambrian> <prehistoric> (2):preparatory or prerequisite to <premedical> b: in advance : beforehand <precancel><prepay>
2: in front of : anterior to <preaxial> <premolar>

What does that have to do with a phone? Who cares what "pre" means when you a phone that gives me what I need in a phone. The Palm pre may be my next phone. I'll miss the blackberry, but I real browser on my phone.

1. An open platform
2. A touch screen
3. A slide out keyboard
4. A camera with a flash
5. IT'S ON SPRINT

I'll be contract free come July! Sprint, you have one last shot!!

Birthday Week

That's right, it's been a great week.  For one, I'm alive and two I have a roof over my head and I pay my own bills.  Winning the lottery would be great, but maybe this year will be my year.

A few days ago I asked someone what their favorite movies were.  I mentioned:

E.T
The Color Purple
Star Wars (Episodes IV, V, VI)
The Matrix Trilogy

He proceeded to say, "You like those 80's movies."  His favorite movie, "The Departed and The Dark Knight".

I should have prefaced by saying this guy was born in 1988. (I was in high school!!!)  I was more floored that he said that comment about 80's movies.

Another sign that I'm getting older.

Horoscope

Amen!

Please don't wear a t-shirt that says what I saw on the canary yellow t-shirt of the Japanese tourist at JFK airport: "Sorry, I'm a loser." I also beg you not to read Ethan Trex's book How to Seem Like a Better Person Without Actually Improving Yourself. It's very important, in my astrological opinion, that you not demean or underestimate yourself in the coming days. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that you have a sacred duty to exalt your beauty and exult in your talents. Now go read Walt Whitman's Song of Myself, and periodically murmur the first line all week long: "I celebrate myself, and sing myself."

And the winner is...

Playstation 3

No, I didn't get the Xbox 360. One reason was the back end cost and features. The $299 Xbox may have been cheaper up front, but in order to make it wireless, I would have to spend an extra $100 bucks. The PS3 come with built in wireless capabilities. Another feature, the Blu-Ray player will come in handy when I purchase an HDTV (my next obsession).

In less than a week I've bought four games:

Motor Storm (first one)
The Darkness
Fracture
Naked Angels: Squadrons of WWII

I rented two:

Star Wars: Force Unleased (I will buy soon)
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (I will buy soon too)

I played and love:
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Comics (Fun, Fun, Fun)

Believe it or not I haven't bought Little Big Planet. I kind of want to finish off these games in a month or two and imerse myself in LBP. Like I said before it seems like a lot of fun, especially with online multi play (for free).

So, I've armed myself with a Gamestop card for used games and even joined the PS3 online community. I'm having a ball. The problem is I have to go to work everyday! ;-)

Headed to Mom's

I'm bolting down to my hometown to be with my mom during Christmas and maybe even New Years. My Uncle Sydney (her brother) died in November and I think she'd like to have as much family around as possible. Actually my whole family is gathering that Sunday after Christmas to toast the season and year.

Ending the year with family and friends...that's how you spend the Holidays!
