Monday Morning

Picture it...

Monday morning crowded subway platform in New York City. I go to the end of the platform toward the back of the train in the hopes that I will get a seat for my thirty minute journey. The doors opened and out came one of worst smells you can think of. Think of bad, bad body odor that defiles description. Just one whiff and I got out of the car and went to the next one that was filling because of the dozens of jumping into the car before the train doors closed. God forbid I missed that train. It would throw off those whole morning and I would risk being late. There I was on a packed train headed downtown. The funny part is looking at the people in the funky car that stayed in order to have a seat with their mouths covered.

So that was the beginning of my week. It's happened before, but every time I'm just frustrated and saddened. Saddened because someone has so much disrespect for themselves and others to smell like that. I think I saw his shoes off!

I wonder what brought him to that moment.

Choices

A friend of mine told me....actually she ordered me to, "Stop what you're doing and set your DVR to record Friday Night Lights. Well, I did and I haven't looked back.

This show is about choices. Do I go to college? How can I make a difference in my community? Do I follow my dreams or settle?

This show is raw, exposed and brutal at times. It's hard to watch these characters do things that you know won't turn out well, but that's part of the joy as well. I guarantee if you watch one episode you will be hooked. That's not to say it's all pain. There's joy when people triumph over their given circumstances.

It's a shame that a show this well acted and written is struggling to find the ratings to keep it on the air. People had to sign a petition to get it back on the air.

I don't think it's popular because it's rooted in truth not fantasy. I'm glad that NBC has given it chance after chance.

So, I'm going to give you the same advice given to me.

"Stop what you're doing and watch/record Friday Night Lights!

PAIN

Fun!!! This game is from the Playstation Network and all you have to do is smash yourself into lots of things. It's a blast.

I'm loving my PS3.

This video is actually from a game I was playing. The PS3 gives you an option to upload the video to your You Tube account.

Keypad for PS3

I need one. I'm accepting gifts and/or donations!

Current Obsession is...

Warhawk.

I can't say enough about this game. I've pushed all of my other games aside and really gotten into this combat game for the PS3. If you like air or ground combat this game is for you.

On top of the game play which is challenging, you work as a team and choice between play 4 different modes of play. Each game can be played with up to 32 players online! Below is the game breakdown.

  1. Team Deathmatch - teams to take neutral bases
  2. Deathmatch - 2 teams take down as many enemies as possible (Eucadian vs. Chernovan)
  3. Capture the Flag - capture flag, return to base and touch the enemy flag with own flag
  4. Zone Mode - Capture as many bases as possible.
I got the game from Gamestop for $19.99 and wondered if I would like a game plays online only. I could you play in teams and have team objectives without communicating. That was solved with my bluetooth headset. I paired it with the PS3 now, I can communicate with my team to solve our objectives. I just find that a lot of people don't have headsets, so I end up on losing teams sometimes because people don't work together.

The better your gameplay gets, the higher your ranking becomes. With a higher ranking the more likely you can get into clans. Clans are groups of players that get together and fight. I haven't joined one yet because I need a lot more practice.

This weekend will be a Laundry and Warhawk one. I need to work on my aircombat!

My Pilgrimage to DC

I lost my phone after my birthday dinner Saturday night. Not a great way to start my trip, but I made the best I could of the situation (I activated an old phone).

Monday, I chose to take pictures of the mall and The Kennedy Center. I got about two hours of sleep and headed down to the mall at 4am. We got into the mall and then waited from 7am to 11:30am when the ceremony was to begin.

It was worth it.

Worth it to see the older men and women, clearly affected by the freezing cold, out there because they had to witness history. Moved by the children that listened to every word that Obama had to say during his speech. Emotional because a black man is celebrated for his intellect, policy and leadership and he's the President of the United States.

I'll never forget that moment.

God Bless The Obama's and the United States of America.
