NYC United for Peace & Justice

A few weeks ago I was on a lunch break in 14th Street and saw these people linking has across 14th street. Basically a silent protest against the war. It was great. I'm anti work and if it wasn't work I would have loved to have locked hands in protest. Below is their link with some stats:

New Yorkers have paid $46.9 billion for the Iraq War thus far. $720 million dollars a day is being spent. $500,000 a minute.

Think of the lives that would be saved if we ended this occupation and found Osama bin Laden like we set out to do. How many deaths does it take.

Truth will set you free

To quote Dick Cheney we have a volunteer military. He was basically saying that the people that "signed up for this" knew what to expect, so deal with it. That says he has no respect, no compassion for the children, parents, grandparents of the men and women that served in the middle east.

Tavis Smiley brought on General Wesley Clark to speak some truth about the Iraq War.

Let's not Forget

The number of U.S. military deaths is the Iraq war stands at 3,760. The number in September alone is 18.

All Night Session

Who cares that 3,600 soldiers have died and more are wounded? We need to stay in Iraq and not address the mismanagement of this war.

That's the message the Republican party is giving to the American people. As the anti-war sentiment grows and the election antics intensify Democrats will have more ammunition to confront the Elephants on Iraq.

The Democrats may have lost the battle on the defense bill, but I believe this is just part of the plan to get a Democrat in the executive office to clean up the mess G.W Bush made.

We Can't Forget...3,569 dead

More of our brave soldiers in Iraq have been killed. They have family and friends who are mourning now for their loved ones.

They cannot die in vain. We must do what we have to do in Iraq efficiently, swiftly and thoroughly.

Don't Forget

The world community shouldn't forget when 13 people are murdered by a suicide bomber. In fact, it should make headline news. 13 people that have families, friends and in some cases children. Is the Pentagon doing all it can to bring out brothers and sisters home?

I wonder if Congressional leaders would end the war sooner if their children and relatives where in a foreign country fighting for "our freedom". Bush's two daughters should fight and make their father proud or maybe even Bush's nephew.

Nope, they probably won't go. We'll keep sending young women and men who see the military as a way to get an education they normally couldn't afford. Again, the poor fight a war for the rich.

The real war is between the poor and the rich...the battles are healthcare and immigration. Who will win?

The Bloodbath Continues

The United States can't forget that our servicemen are still in danger. We need to take care of business and get out of there. It's not okay to have our family members in harms way because a realistic plan wasn't in place before the war started.

If this war was a company, investors would have pulled out due to mismanagement. Check the link below.

Cindy Sheehan - A Leader

She made a choice, went against the mainstream because she felt deeply about an issue close to her heart. She put in a grassroots effort to get her story in the media spotlight and can you blame her? Her son died and she has every right to ask questions about what he died for. We do live in America.
I think she is a true leader. Being a leader isn't about raising 25 million dollars so you can have buttons and get commericials on prime time broadcasts. A leader stands behind what he or she believes in and puts it all on the line (i.e. her reputation). She isn't afraid to piss people off and put the truth out there. The dead and wounded totals are rising in a war that started by misleading the American people.

I wouldn't be who I am without discussing the war. I found this article in the New York Times today.

Poll

What took people so long? Interesting how people are so opinionated when gas prices are the highest they've been in a while.

"Sixty-one percent of respondents now say that the United States should never have taken military action against Iraq, up from 51 percent in a CBS News poll in April and 58 percent in the same poll in January."

Sixty one percent? That's crazy. Finally, the public is seeing that we were sold a bunch of crap and young men and women are paying with their lives, limbs and futures. Sixty-one percent is still too low for something that seems quite clear to me. I wonder how high that number is with the families that have lost someone in this war.

What does this poll really mean? Polls give you an idea of certain people's ideas, but by no means represents the United States as a whole. The media needs to stop trying to have polls tell us what or how we think and start covering stories from different points of view. Not just the popular one.
