The Nines and Ryan

I got out of work early today and called friends.

Everyone else had plans or was still at work. Movie time then !! What movie you ask? I looked at moviefone.com and saw that Ryan Reynolds had a new movie starting today. That's significant because I just saw Just Friends not to mention that he's very easy on the eyes. I checked the New York Times and saw there was an article about The Nines that was favorable and it was playing at my favorite theatre the Landmark Sunshine Cinema I had to go. (I just found out I missed meeting him in person) dang!

I headed down and had their salty but good popcorn (they have free refills). I know, so bad for you.

The movie was different. Three parts that referenced each other. Some of the reviews just didn't get it, but it's about endings and self acceptance. I was into numerology in high school and the number nine represents endings and karmic transitions. One moment you thought you were in a horror movie and the next sci-fi. It was lovely because it kept you on your toes. Most movies you can figure out what's going happen when it starts. This one you really didn't know where it was going?

I recommend it. Also, from the beefcake standpoint. If you don't know he's got a tremendous body, but the movie directed by a gay man, John August one of Ryan's best friends, wasn't filled with gratuitous shots of his body. His body would have pulled focus. What does he eat??

One day your colleagues are kissing your ass and the next they're treating you like an ass. Since the guilty plea, it's easy to hit a man when he's down.

Here's the problem: I'm sure there were people in Congress and elsewhere that knew this anti-gay Republican was actually in the closet and allowed him to spew his rhetoric without challenge. That's wrong.

I say this is an example of karma. I hope Middle America is taking a close look at this. The United States Congress is much more liberal than they think. Don't assume politicians practice what they preach. Politicians just cater to the religious right to get votes. They actually think anyone living between New York and Los Angeles are idiots with the exception of Chicago. That info comes from friends that work on Capital Hill.

The Dancing Queens

It's no Spring Awakening, but it is a chance to see Meryl Streep sing in a musical. I saw her in Mother Courage, where I think I saw one of best live performances of my life. She was incredible and after that moment I understood all the Oscar nominations and accolades.

Meryl Streep, Angela Bassett, Jodi Foster, Jennifer Beals? Goodness...Yale Drama School knows what they're doing.

My Blackberry 8830

This one is for the Oh my Pod folks. I like my phone, but the big problem is that for people calling me they claim that I sound like I'm in a wind tunnel. My mom wants me to get a new phone or go back to the old. Well, I'm keeping it.

Broadway Flea Market

If you're into used Broadway CD's this is the place to be. Most are $5 to $10. which is a great deal for Broadway Show Tunes. Another reason to live in NYC!

King Lear

I waited too long and now it's sold out. Goodness! Lesson learned, I must get tickets the moment it's available. Now I have to wait and hope for standing room. The play is 3 hours and twenty minutes long! Standing?? Is that really an option?
